Enhancing Environmental Management on a Northeast Asian island

Overview

Airvoice has installed a network of 34 compact sensor-based monitoring systems across 23 key locations on a large Northeast Asian island. This network feeds air quality data into the Airvoice Platform, facilitating informed urban decision-making and effective public communication.

Facts and Numbers

Area: Northeast Asia, covering urban and remote locations
Monitoring Network: 34 stations across 23 locations
Project Duration: Rapid deployment within the fiscal year
Customer: the local Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection

Challenge

The ministry sought a cost-effective, rapid method to establish air quality monitoring. The goals were to enhance the region's tourist appeal and establish a comprehensive air quality communication system for public health alerts. Accessibility and logistical challenges in remote areas added complexity to the project.

Solution

The network covers urban centers and remote locations, ensuring comprehensive air quality monitoring. The Airvoice team has managed the installation, operation, and maintenance of the monitors, which provide data aligned with the EPA Air Quality Index and WHO guidelines.
The Airvoice platform, enhanced with the Airvoice.Forecast module, offers a user-friendly interface that displays real-time and predicted ambient air quality data, updated every 20 minutes, along with statistics for past periods and comparative analysis across different locations. Additionally, environmental specialists can set customized notifications for any air quality changes, enabling timely responses.

Impact and Results

This initiative has significantly enhanced air quality management, increasing community awareness and engagement. The Airvoice air quality monitoring and forecasting system enables proactive management and identification of pollution sources, empowering regional authorities to make informed, data-driven decisions that minimize potential health risks associated with pollution. Transparent data sharing has strengthened trust between the government, residents, and tourists, reinforcing the region’s image as a clean and appealing destination.
